"To become a healthier person by exploring the natural world"

The Nashwaaksis Middle School Hiking Club was founded in 1985 by Mr. Smith and fifteen students. At that time it was called the Seashore Study Group.  In 1989 Mr. Gallant became a supervisor and these two teachers have been operating the club together since then.

The 2004-05 year will one of our most ambitious yet with a full schedule of outings planned. On the following links, download the Schedule For This Year. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader to view the files.

Our fearless leaders... Mr. Smith and Mr. Gallant

Activities have included studying wildlife in its natural habitat and hiking mountain terrain such as Mt. Douglas Bald in Welsford and Mt. Katahdin in Maine..

Last year we did a number of field trips including one to Sheffield, to study a river habitat, and one to Grand Manan to study an ocean habitat. This site focuses on field trips and our wildlife findings.

This year the Hiking Club made trips to winter campgrounds (snowshoeing), Odell Park, Mt. Douglas Bald, and Fundy National Park for a three day hike. See our group shot from Fundy!
