Archived 8DM - Mme Doucett - Notes

Persuasive essays are due on Friday, February 17th.  We have been working on these in class for the last two weeks.  All necessary documents and information can be located on the wikispace:  http://ilovela.wikispaces.com

Students must submit a printed copy of the essay that includes a title page and a bibliography.  All drafts may be placed in the electronic dropbox.

You must have completed the following before leaving for the Holiday Break:

1.  My Favorite Christmas (story)

2.  Poem (instructions are on the wikispace - Dec 19th)

3.  The Twelve Days of School (instructions are on the wikispace - Dec 20th)

I have decided to offer students a re-write on the Short Story test.  I will be in my classroom during the lunch hour on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week if anyone should want to come in for extra help.  I have duty on Monday, but will also be in my room at noon on Tuesday.  The rewrite will be written on Wednesday December 7th at noon.  If anyone would like to take advantage of this opportunity, they should be in my classroom Wednesday at noon.  This will be the only time allotted for the rewrite.

The final copy of your opinion piece re: The Firefighters' Challenge is due on Thursday.

Book Trailers are due December 12th...we will have some class time to work on these this week.

There are still some students who have not turned in their "soldier letter".  Please ensure that you get this finished on the weekend and have it turned in on Tuesday.

Also, you need to be sure that your "dialogue" assignment is completed and placed in the writing resources section of your binder.

The assignment we started today will NOT be homework for your LONG WEEKEND...lucky!  We will finish it up on Tuesday.  Enjoy your extra days off, but please take the time to do some reading.  Your book trailer is due December 12th!

See you Tuesday!

Short Story test tomorrow.  If you've "forgotten" your binder, the notes have all been posted to the wikispace:

http://ilovela.wikispaces.com

Book Talk due Monday, November 7th.

Short Story Test Thursday November 10th.  Be sure to review/study your notes.  The test will look similar to the activity done in class with the story "The Hand".  All power points used in class for notes have been posted to the wikispace.

Book Talk due Monday, November 7th.

The good copy of your suspense story is due on Monday.  Have a great weekend.  Enjoy your day off tomorrow.

-Mrs. Doucett

There are still students that have not submitted their novel assignments and/or their ( "Nooooooooo...this can't possibly be happening to me!" I screamed.)  stories.

Students have been assigned a new novel assignment due Monday, November 7th.  It is a Book Talk and all instructions can be found on my wikispace:  http://ilovela.wikispaces.com

By Monday, you should have completed the following from this week:

The "Runner Up" reading comprehension activity should be finished and in the "Reading" section of your binder.

Your "homonym"  sentences should be completed, with each word underlined or highlighted.  These belong in the "Mechanics" section of your binder.

Your "homonym page" for our class Book of Homonyms should be submitted on Monday.  (8GN - we have not gotten to this yet).

Have a great weekend!

Your novel assignment is due tomorrow:  October 7th.  You were given four weeks to complete this, so there should be no excuses!

The final copy of your "Nooooo...this can't possibly be happening to me!" story is due Tuesday.  If you chose to do this on your netbook, remember that it is your responsibility to print the final copy to be submitted.  Your pre-write, drafts and TAGs will go in the drop box, but not the final copy.  If you are doing it by hand, then you must write your final copy double-spaced in blue or black ink.
